We believe that all children deserve access to education, regardless of their gender or where they are born. We put our heart and soul into improving the chances for the children to live a fulfilled life. Literacy is one such essential skill. Collaborating with small associations and local communities - mainly run by Catholic nuns and priests - we are striving to ensure that all children have the opportunity to learn.
We collect funds and invest them 100% into educational projects in Vietnam and Cambodia. This means that we are building schools in remote villages, renovating run-down schools and supporting small local organizations that offer education to oprhans or children from Ethnic Minorities.
We manage and audit the projects from Europe and work with trusted local partners who we personally know for many years.

CLEAN WATER FOR THE GIRLS OF DAK TO EDUCATIONAL SHELTER, KON TUM, VIETNAM
Clean water is essential. It is a fundamental human need. Polluted water isn’t just dirty - it’s deadly. About 1.8 million people die every year of diarrheal diseases like cholera. Education suffers when sick children miss school.
In 2018 A Kiss for Children e.V. collaborated with the DAK TO Shelter, KON TUM Province, Central Highlands, Vietnam. The small shelter is home of 30 girls of different Ethnic Minorities tribes. As the girls initially just spoke Sedang and Ro Ngao, ethnic languages of their tribes, they had to study Vietnamese at the local school - a big improvement. Their living conditions however remained very poor and unsafe, mainly to dirty water.
A Kiss for Children e. V. decided to fundraise to provide safe water for the girls of Dak To. A few weeks later were able to start drilling the well. Within a few more days a new water pump was installed.
SAVING THE SCHOOL OF LAI THIEU EDUCATIONAL CENTER, HO CHI MINH CITY, VIETNAM
The “Educational Centre Lai Thieu for Ethnic Minority Children” is one of the main projects of A Kiss for Children e.V. - we have been collaborating with this small, catholic institution for more than 12 years.
What does "Ethnic Minorities" mean?
Mostly living along the border to Cambodia, Laos or China, those children legally don't belong to any country. Without papers and any legal rights, these families have no access to public schools.
In 2017 an existential problem concerning the school building occurred. The school building was sinking due to unstable ground. Together with Sister Marie-Huu, a local architect and an engineer we were ablte to stabilize the ground and to save the school of the children of Lai Thieu.
THE FIRST A KISS FOR CHILDREN SCHOOL
In 2015 the first A Kiss for Children school was built in Kok Chor, a little village located about 60 km from Battambang, Cambodia.
Kok Chor is just one among many small remote villages in Cambodia. Inhabitants in rural poverty are isolated, living in villages far from health services and roads and with limited access to education, health care & employment.
Aiming to provide education to the children, lessons were taking part outside. As this was only possible during dry season, the children went “to school” only 6 months a year. A Kiss for Children decided to make some big news here and built a school with 2 spacious classrooms.
OUR STORY
My name is Ilona Kiss and I am the Kiss in “A Kiss for Children e.V.
I founded this "A Kiss for Children" during my work as an International Lawyer in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. I actually learned to speak Vietnamese and got access to the local people. In 2006 - while working on an adoption dossier for a client - I visited many orphanages in and around Ho Chi Minh City. What I saw there could not leave me untouched and I decided that I had to speak up for those who could not speak for themselves. It became clear to me, that I really could make a difference for these children.
Together with Thu Bich Duong we decided to make some good news ourselves and founded “A Kiss for Children”. Since then, we have raised more than 300.000 USD and successfully managed many projects that we report about on this website. More and more people joined our cause like my then husband-to-be Jörg Bodenschatz and Markus Bussmann. I have been living in Switzerland since 2010, changed my name after my marriage to Ilona Bodenschatz-Kiss, have three wonderful children myself and want to make even bigger news of my own in the future.

100% for the good cause: Our organization is lean and everyone involved bears the administrative cost involved themselves. Therefore 100% of your donation goes to the children in need. We have no administration fees, no salaries, no deductions or detours. We transfer the money we receive directly to our partners on site in Vietnam - short way, we call it “local funding”. All this is being audited regularly and we can provide evidence any time. As professionals we always question the quality of work and cost involved so that we can make the most of your donation.

Our partners and our European branch consist of highly qualified professionals who do honorary work and know how to manage a project. Our Partners on site like Thu Bich Duong, Irene Duarte and Soeur Marie Huu are devoted people and trustworthy partners we know personally for many years, so we evaded common risks for charities like corruption or inefficiencies. Our projects have never failed or ended in nowhere.
12 YEARS AKFC
A Kiss for Children e. V. emerged out of a pursuit to support children in need and a desire for actions to speak louder than words. Established in 2007, we’re an organization driven by progressive ideas, bold actions, and a strong foundation of support. Today we can look back on 12 years of successful donations and projects. One big milestone was achieved in July 2017 when A Kiss for Children became an official NPO and thus "A Kiss for Children e. V.
