A few days ago, we received this beautiful Xmas Letter by Sister Marie Huu from Lai Thieu Educational Center in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
As it is written in French, we have translated it in English for you:
"This year, as we are building the new elementary school building, we had to share the space we use for the kindergarten. As a result, we did not have the opportunity to receive so many young mountaineers for lack of space. Currently we are taking care of 70 children and young people from seven different ethnic groups, aged between six and twenty-three, 29 boys and 41 girls. We have 4 new residents, from 8 to 12 years old, who came from Loc Thanh in Binh Phuoc province - they do not yet know how to read and write. We had to set up classes at school especially for them, time to catch up the delay in order to integrate them into classes corresponding to their age as soon as possible. The others are educated from primary to high school. We have 10 students at the University and 2 in apprenticeships: cooking school and housekeeping school.
This year we also organized a wall newspaper contest, it's very interesting! The children were very happy to work in groups. Each group wanted to win the competition!
Their life at our school is divided between studies, homework, common household tasks including cooking, games a little dance. Their favorite dish, currently, are the Vietnamese crepes, Banh Xeo"
